TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics – July 2013

August 2, 2013 (TORONTO) – TMX Group today announced July 2013 trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges – Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select and Alpha, Montreal Exchange (MX) and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX).

Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange was up 10% in July 2013 compared to July 2012 and was down 5% compared to the previous month. Volume on TSX Venture Exchange increased 12% over the same month last year and 21% over June 2013. In July 2013, trading volume on TMX Select was up 32% compared to July 2012, but was down 14% compared to June 2013. Alpha trading volumes in July 2013 decreased 46% from July 2012 levels, but increased 8% from the previous month.

Volume on MX increased 4% in July 2013 compared to July 2012, and was down 17% compared to June 2013. The level of open interest contracts at the end of July 2013 decreased 4% from the end of June 2012, and was essentially flat compared to the previous month.

Trading and clearing volume on NGX was up 20% in July 2013 compared to the same month last year and was up 15% compared to June 2013.
