TMX Equity Trading Notice
Contingent Option Trade Approval
TSX has received Regulatory Approval Regarding Amendments to Contingent Options Trades.
TMX Equities Trading is pleased to announce that Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX") has received regulatory approval from the Ontario Securities Commission regarding its proposed amendments to Contingent Options Trades, as described in Equities Notice 2024-008.
The amendments will enable the automatic trade of the securities on TSX when the option portion of the contingent option is executed on Montreal Exchange. As a result of these changes, TSX would allow for the trade in securities on TSX to execute outside of the National Best Bid and Offer, but will restrict the trade to within the daily high and low price.
The amendments are expected to be implemented on TSX later in Q3 2024. A further notice will be published with a specific implementation date from both TSX and MX. Until such time, the existing manual process will continue to be in effect.
Under the amendments, Contingent Option Trades will continue to utilize the existing "MS" trade marker which does not set the daily high, low, last, open or close prices.
