TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics - December 2016
January 5, 2017 (TORONTO) – TMX Group Limited today announced December 2016 trading statistics for its marketplaces – Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TSX Alpha Exchange (Alpha), Montréal Exchange (MX) and NGX.
MX achieved a new monthly volume record for Options on Three-Month Canadian Bankers' Acceptance Futures (OBX) of 191,170 contracts traded. MX also reached a new monthly volume record for options on exchange traded funds (ETFs) of 1,693,466 contracts traded.
MX set a new overall open interest record of 7,678,048 contracts traded on December 15, 2016. In addition, MX's key products set multiple open interest records during the month, including:
- The Three-Month Canadian Bankers' Acceptance Futures (BAX) reached 1,051,983 contracts on December 15, 2016;
- The S&P/TSX 60 Index Standard Futures (SXF) reached 381,694 contracts on December 12, 2016;
- OBX reached 260,490 contracts on December 28, 2016.
