Global Money Week Opens the Market

Gary Rabbior, President and Kevin Maynard, VP & COO, Canadian Foundation for Economic Education joined Tanya Rowntree, VP Sales, TSX Trust Company, TMX Group to open the market to celebrate Global Money Week (GMW). Also joining them will be representatives from The Canadian Banking Association, The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education, Credit Canada, Enactus Canada, Mastercard Foundation, Save the Children Canada and the University of Toronto. Held annually during the second week of March, GMW is a worldwide celebration which aims to inspire children and youth to learn about money, saving, entrepreneurship, gaining employment, and becoming responsible economic citizens. GMW is coordinated and supported by Child and Youth Finance International and The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. GMW 2017 takes place worldwide from March 27th to April 2nd.

LGBT in Capital Markets Open the Market

Derek Flood, Head of Canadian Equities and Co-Chair of the Canadian Diversity Leadership Council, RBC Capital Markets, and Steven Solarz, Executive Director, LGBT in Capital Markets, joined Graham Mackenzie, Senior Account Manager Equities Trading, TMX Group to open the market. The joint open signifies the start of a partnership between the two organizations as they advocate for greater LGBT+ inclusion in the financial services industry. LGBT in Capital Markets is a non-profit organization that supports and advances LGBT+ talent in the capital markets industry. RBC Capital Markets is a global investment bank providing banking, finance and capital markets to corporations, institutional investors, asset managers and governments globally. On Tuesday, March 27 LGBT in Capital Markets will host, Finding Common Ground, at the Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto.

EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women Opens the Market

Laura Assal, Senior Manager, Ernst & Young (EY) and Chair of the GTA Professional Women’s Network, joined Orlee Wertheim, Head Business Development, Global Mining, Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange to open the market. EY is celebrating its commitment to advancing women in Canada. The Professional Women’s Network fosters the exchange of knowledge and experiences through learning, as well as internal and market-facing networking events, and provides exposure and leadership opportunities to women at all levels. EY launched the “Women. Fast forward” initiative to accelerate the gender parity clock with a focus on women in the workplace, women in leadership, women entrepreneurs and women at EY.
