TMX Group Consolidated Trading Statistics - April 2014

May 5, 2014 (TORONTO) - TMX Group Limited today announced April 2014 trading statistics for its marketplaces - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, Alpha, Montreal Exchange (MX) and NGX.

Total TMX equities trading volume in April 2014 decreased 7% compared to April 2013, and decreased 12% compared to March 2014. Trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange in April 2014 decreased 11% compared to April 2013, and decreased 12% compared to the previous month. Volume on TSX Venture Exchange increased 22% in April 2014 compared to April 2013, but decreased 11% compared to March 2014. Trading volume on TMX Select in April 2014 increased 9% compared to April 2013, but decreased 18% compared to the previous month. Alpha trading volume in April 2014 decreased 33% compared to April 2013, and decreased 8% compared to the previous month.

In April 2014 volume on MX increased 4% compared to the same month a year earlier, but decreased 11% compared to the previous month. The level of open interest contracts at the end of April 2014 was essentially flat year-over-year, and was essentially flat from the end of March 2014.

Volume on NGX in April 2014 decreased 18% from April 2013, and decreased 34% compared to March 2014.
