Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange participating in series of events

March 4, 2016 (TORONTO, ON) – TMX Group, the global exchange leader in mining, is a patron sponsor of this year's Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada's (PDAC) International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange, being held March 6 – 10 in Toronto. TMX Group will play an active role in this year's agenda, participating in panel sessions and workshops, as well as hosting ceremonies to open and close trading on Canada's premier equity markets, Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV).

Market open events

This morning, TMX Group welcomes a diverse group representing women working in the mining industry, who will open today's trading session from the TMX Broadcast Centre. A series of market open ceremonies will be held next week from TMX Group's booth #2917 on the floor of PDAC's Investors Exchange, including the Mexican delegation on Monday, March 7, representatives from PDAC on March 8 and the Chilean delegation on March 9. The TMX Broadcast Centre will host the delegation from Ecuador for a market open on March 10.

Market close events

Market close ceremonies are also planned throughout the week. Representatives from 2016 TSX Venture 50® mining companies will close the market on Monday, March 7 from TMX Group's booth #2917 on the floor of PDAC's Investors Exchange. TMX Group will host the African delegation on March 8 at the TMX Broadcast Centre.

Other TMX hosted events

Tomorrow, March 5, TSX and TSXV, along with PwC Canada and McCarthy Tétrault, will co-host a dinner for the delegation from Argentina. The following evening, March 6, the Exchanges will partner with Fasken Martineau and KPMG to co-host a dinner for the Chilean delegation. On March 8, the Exchanges will co-host a breakfast with Norton Rose Fulbright and PwC Canada for the Mexican delegation.

TSX and TSXV are the world's number one listing venue for mining companies. As at January 31, 2016, the Exchanges were home to 1,308 mining issuers that have a combined market capitalization of $179 billion. These companies raised almost $6.8 billion on TSX and TSXV combined in 2015. There were 1,123 mining financings last year on the Exchanges, which represents 53% of public company financings done globally.

For Market Openings and Closings at the TMX Broadcast Centre: Media may pick up a feed from the TOC (television operations centre) for all market open and close ceremonies. The feed is named TSX Transmit 1 (SD-SDI) and is produced at the TMX Broadcast Centre and sent live to the Toronto TOC. Those featured in the market opening and market closing move into position for the ceremony at approximately 9:27 a.m. and 3:57 p.m. respectively and the markets will open/close with the sound of a siren (the traditional market open/close on Toronto Stock Exchange) at 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET.
