Upcoming Updates to Approved Trader Qualification Requirements
TMX Equities is pleased to announce upcoming changes to Approved Trader qualification requirements to conform to the updated proficiency model established by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization ("CIRO"), which came into effect on January 1, 2026, as set out in CIRO Bulletin 25-0110.
Amendments to the Toronto Stock Exchange Rule Book ("TSX Rule Book") relating to the updated proficiency model established by CIRO will become effective on September 14, 2026. The Notice of Housekeeping Amendments for TSX can be found here.
Summary of Changes
- The updated Approved Trader qualification requirements will require completion of the "Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam" (CIRE) where the "Canadian Securities Course" was previously required.
- The updated Approved Trader qualification requirements will require completion of the "CIRO Trader Exam" where the "Trader Training Course" was previously required.
